I am writing this from the Scottish Borders, a home from home for me, where I currently have the added bonus of a very loving canine companion as I wander along a favourite river walk. This morning, before Storm Amy came blowing in, Ruffin and I enjoyed a long walk along the river, high and noisy already from the rain. I kept an eye out for my beloved Dippers, the cutest little river birds I’ve seen. Instead, just before we turned for home, I was blessed to witness a Heron take flight. I’ve walked that river path many times, and this was the first time I’ve ever seen a heron.

Traditional meanings associated with the Heron include (as Ted Andrews called it) “aggressive self-determination and self-reliance”. Perhaps an unwelcome symbolism for some, it is indeed relevant medicine for my own personal work these days. Additionally, Heron is a liminal bird and a powerful guide for transitions as well as to provide guidance in the spiritual realms – and on the way in and out. Heron is not a known totem for me, but I feel blessed to have seen this beautiful guide as I return to to my work after days of travelling. Especially given how much journeying in the spiritual realms I have ahead of me this month – it is a month of questing for power. Are you coming with me?

Though not a traditional part of the Reiki system, Spirit guides feature in every version of shamanism we know of, in one form or another. Open to all levels and lineages, I will be sharing guidance on connecting and working with spirit guides, how to develop the relationship, and how to avoid common mistakes as you begin walking this kind of path. The Reiki shares at White Rabbit Glastonbury are community healings open to Reiki 1 and above. Every person in the group receives a healing from the whole group. The evening ends with a Reiki Drum and Voice healing for the whole group. Join me at White Rabbit – suggested donation £10.
