Ways to fall (back) in love with Reiki

If you’re on my mailing list or have checked out my upcoming calendar for the new year, you might have noticed that this coming January is ReikiFest! Well that’s what I’m calling it in my mind anyways… It’s a very public return to the world of Reiki for me (not that I ever left it in my personal work) and it feels very important for me to stand up and make some noise in the world of Reiki once again.

(Look at all these Reiki offerings coming up in the new year!)

I’ve spoken before about why I think Reiki is one of the most important tools we can have as healers. And I won’t bore you all by telling you again that Reiki isn’t to be dismissed, as some serious healing and magical practitioners may believe, as a lightweight system – you can remind yourself why I consider it to be serious shamanic badassery here, if you like.

Reiki is powerful, life changing stuff. And if you’re a Reiki person who’s forgotten how powerful it is, fallen off the wagon of your regular Reiki meditations, or just haven’t felt the full richness of leaning into the Reiki source for a while, there are plenty of ways to fall back in love with it this winter. I’ve listed 5 below!

In addition to the list below, if you know any very clever cats – do a reciprocal Reiki share healing with them…

Reignite your Reiki fire

  1. Commit daily time
Remember at the height of your love affair with Reiki, you made time for it every day? Over the years, especially if you are the multi-instrumentalist kind of healer like I am, it can slip down the list in favour of “bigger” techniques. I say giving the Reiki meditations their regular place will give more power to all your other work – and increase your energy. My personal favourite is Hatsurei Ho – best Reiki meditation ever.
  2. Make a new Reiki playlist (or revive an old one)
When I first got into Reiki I was all over the Llewellyn music spiritual healing CDs. (Merlin’s Magic – Heart of Reiki is still my favourite Reiki track.) There is so much more healing music available now, and so much more accessible than when I started doing this 19 years ago. Listening to music that puts you in the energy healing mindset makes it easier to step into the perfect mindset for self healing. You can just lean into a cosy armchair, place one hand on your heart and the other on your solar plexus, and let the energy flow.
  3. Indulge in tiny rituals
One of the fun things about Reiki is you can make tiny things sacred with easy little rituals. Drawing a Reiki symbol over your food (or champagne) might seem like it doesn’t do much but it works because, like all good ritual, the act of drawing the symbol isn’t the point. This little repeated act, with a symbol used who knows how many millions of times for healing intent, instantly reminds us of our connection to source. It changes our focus and our energy, and suddenly we’ve created a little sacred space. Radiating Reiki for a moment into your room if you’ve lost focus, reciting the precepts on a walk, making a placemat of Reiki symbols to charge your bottle of water (or champagne)… add as many tiny rituals to your mundane routines as you like.
  4. Make it your own
Going back to the basics to recover structure in your Reiki life is one way in. The other is to get creative and adapt Reiki energy to your own ways of working. Like shamanic drumming? Channel Reiki as you do it. Got into crystal healing? Charge up your crystals. Make a Reiki altar, journal to your Reiki spirit guide, use mala beads to send Reiki prayers to your loved ones. My own favourite is to sing the Reiki kotodama, but in the intuitive singing, rolling mantra style I use for group healing and magic. Be playful – Usui Sensei was a Leo, so surely he wouldn’t mind.
  5. Join my Reiki Re-empowerment adventure!
See what I did there? I said fun things about Reiki and then hit you with a sales pitch. Stay with me though – because I think this Reiki Re-empowerment journey could be exactly what you need to fall in love with Reiki and remind yourself how powerful you are.
It’s 21 days of meditations, techniques, healing and empowerments starting on 02 January 2024 and it’s suitable for everyone from Reiki 1 to Reiki Master Level, from any Reiki lineage. The lessons are sent by email so you don’t have to be available at a certain time, and even if you never took the journey any further after a Reiki 1 weekend 10 years ago, it will still work for you.
I also promise that you can afford it. The whole 21 days is only £90, because I feel really strongly that Reiki people need this right now – and that the world could use a strengthened Reiki resonance right now too. And if that’s not in your reach at the moment, there’s a donation option too. If you need this Re-empowerment, it’s here for you.

What are your favourite ways to connect with Reiki? And will you be joining me for the new year Reiki Re-empowerment? Looking forward to hearing from you guys…

For a bonus reconnection, here’s a kotodama sound bath for mental and emotional healing. I recommend headphones, so you can feel the prayers surround you – and I recommend setting your healing intention before you start to listen too. Enjoy xx
